Siddhant Batra from Agra was ranked 270th in All India in IIT JEE (Advanced) 2020 in October. The 18-year-old was overwhelmed when faced with a difficult situation.

Her mother was raising the doctrine but she died two years ago. But his success boosted his courage. He also got a BTech seat in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Bombay. But because of a small mistake, his dream seems to be shattered.

According to the information received, he had completed the first round of seat allotment on October 18. On October 31, while watching the roll number update, he found a link that read, 'Withdraw from Seat Allocation'.

Siddhant, however, felt that he had got his favorite seat and therefore did not need the next round so he clicked on that link and finished talking. On November 10, when he saw that his name was not in the list of students taking admission in the electrical engineering course.

He then appealed to the Bombay High Court. Hearing the case on November 19, the court asked the IIT to consider the principle appeal but the institution rejected the decision, saying the student had no right to do so and would have to retake the exam next year for admission.

The principle then went to the Supreme and he has appealed for an increase of one seat for him. Being an orphan in principle, he also gets an 'orphan pension' and lives with his grandparents. His appeal, however, is now likely to be heard on Tuesday.
