The British PM will be India's guest, inviting Modi to the G7 summit

British Prime Minister Boris Jones has accepted an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be India's guest on Republic Day next January. Britain considered the matter a matter of honor and invited Prime Minister Modi to be a guest at the G7 summit. The next G7 summit is scheduled to take place in Britain, but its date has not yet been announced.

"Our Prime Minister Boris Jones has accepted Prime Minister Modi's invitation to be the chief guest on the occasion of Republic Day in India in 2021," said visiting British Foreign Secretary Dominic Rabe.

Earlier on Tuesday, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and British Foreign Secretary Dominic Rabe met. In the meantime, he held talks to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade, defense, education, environment and health. The two Foreign Ministers agreed on enhancing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region as well as on some issues of the 10-year roadmap in bilateral relations.

Dominic Raab is visiting India at a time when Britain is in critical negotiations with the European Union to reach a post-Brexit trade agreement. Rab is on a tour of India from December 14 to December 17. After the meeting, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said the talks with British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab would focus on strengthening India-Britain relations.
