Temperatures close to zero in many parts of Punjab-Haryana-Rajasthan: Rain forecast in Himachal

Public life in northern India was affected by the bone-chilling cold. The coldest season in Kashmir had begun. An icy wind was felt at the beginning of the 40-day Chilai Kalan. Coldwave remained unchanged throughout northern India. The capital Delhi is likely to set new cold records in the coming days.

According to the meteorological department, the cold snap was felt in all the states of northern India, but some relief is expected in the coming days. However, the capital Delhi is expected to remain cold in the coming days.

Temperatures in North India remained unchanged for the last 48 hours. Many states in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan had temperatures close to zero. However, the meteorological department reported that the temperature would drop to an average of one to two degrees Celsius this week, thus reducing the cold.

The 40-day cold season has started in Jammu and Kashmir. A sheet of ice will cover the beginning of the Chilai Kalan. The temperature in Srinagar was minus 6.2. The temperature in Pahalgam dropped to minus 7 and in Gulmarg to minus 7.5. The period of Chilai Kalan will be from 21st December to 31st January. During this period the temperature will come down continuously. The snowfall will increase.

Rainfall is forecast in Himachal Pradesh. Extreme cold was felt in Himachal Pradesh due to continuous blowing of cold wires. In the capital Delhi, a cold wind was blowing with thick mist. Temperatures in most parts of Delhi remained unchanged at 2.7 to 5 degrees Celsius. It is expected to get colder in the coming days from December 23 to 26.

Temperatures in several parts of Uttar Pradesh were hovering around five. Light showers are forecast in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, but Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh will get relief from the cold by December 30.

Coldwave situation remained the same in Punjab-Haryana. Adampur was the coldest place with a temperature of 3.2 degrees. Average minimum temperatures ranged from 4 to 5.8. The peak of Mount Abu was recorded at minus 3 degrees. The temperature in the foothills also froze to minus 2 degrees.
