Protests against inviting PM Modi to AMU, threatening to show black flags

New Delhi, 18 December 2020, Friday

Some student organizations have started protesting against inviting PM Modi to the centenary celebrations planned to mark the 100th anniversary of Aligarh Muslim University.

Nadeem Ansari, former vice-president of the university's student union, said, "The scars of the massacre of Muslims in the riots in Gujarat are going to be on PM Modi forever."

If the environment of the university is deteriorating due to this program, the university system will be responsible for it and not the students.

It may be mentioned that for the first time since 1964, the Prime Minister of the country is going to participate in the program of this university. Earlier, Lal Bahadur Shastri attended the convocation ceremony of the university.

University officials say that President Ramnath Kovind was supposed to attend the first event but for some reason he has refused to attend. This time the centenary celebrations are to be held online because of Corona.
