Prison inmates were given blankets with photos of Asaram

-District Magistrate sent notice to the superintendent of Shahjahanpur Jail

-Asaram himself is in jail on rape charges

Inmates at the Shahjahanpur jail in Uttar Pradesh were shocked to learn that a blanket with a photo of the controversial monk Asaram had been given to them.

The district magistrate sent a notice to the superintendent of the jail seeking a reply on the matter. Asaram himself is serving a sentence in Jodhpur jail in Rajasthan for raping Kumla children.

Surprisingly, Kripal Singh, a resident of Shahjahanpur, was the victim of Asaram's lust and later became a government witness. Kripal Singh was assassinated a few years ago.

District Magistrate Indra Vikram Singh had sent a notice to jail superintendent Rakesh Kumar seeking a reply on reports of blankets with Asaram's photo being handed over to Shahjahanpur jail inmates.

Asaram was charged with rape in 2018 and was subsequently jailed.
