Night curfew in Karnataka till January 2, ban on public New Year celebrations

The Karnataka state government had imposed a night curfew in Karnataka till January 2 to curb the spread of corona and prevent crowds from celebrating the Christian New Year. The state government had announced that curfew would be in force from 10 pm to 6 am from today till January 2.

Earlier, a similar announcement was made by the Maharashtra state government. The only difference was that Maharashtra imposed a curfew till January 5. Karnataka imposed curfew till January 2.

The Karnataka government had also ordered airport checks of people coming from Britain in view of reports of another type of corona spreading in European countries. From December 22, every foreigner coming to Karnataka will undergo a rigorous medical examination at the airport and will be kept in quarantine if required.
