-Ministries of Finance, Home, etc. are located here

-Journalists with accreditation cards cannot go

New Delhi on Thursday, December 3, 2020

The media was banned from entering the North Block in the capital New Delhi. The area is home to the Central Government's Ministries of Finance, Home, etc.

Previously, the ban was limited to finance accounts. Now a ban covering the entire North Block was announced. The government announced the ban so that details of the budget being prepared would not be leaked.

However, the ban is only for three months. It was also announced that the ban would last from December to the end of February 2021.

The credentials issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) are known as accreditation cards. PIB issues such cards to journalists who have been working with any newspaper with a circulation of ten thousand to thirty five thousand for the last five years or have been freelancers for fifteen years. Although it has no special status, the card is useful for attending government offices or the Legislative Assembly or Parliament.
