- Reports of more and more young people becoming addicted to drugs

New Delhi / Chandigarh Dated 19th December 2020 Saturday

In Punjab, an average of 35 youths were arrested daily for drug trafficking.

The present Amarendra government came to power by promising to eradicate drugs. But according to police sources, more and more young people are becoming addicted to drugs and cases of illegal drug trafficking are happening on a daily basis.

A fierce battle was raging between the district police and a special task force set up to nab drug mafias, and dozens of drug mafias were caught every day. Drugs worth crores of rupees were coming illegally from Punjab's border with Pakistan.

Despite the media calling the year 2020 a slow year and claims that drug trafficking is declining due to the lockdown following the Corona, 9,000 drug carriers have been caught so far this year. It's like seeing a rush to medical centers trying to get rid of drugs. Drug trafficking was suspended for some time following the curfew. But then it picked up again, police sources said.
