The 136th founding day of the Congress was celebrated on Monday, though there was a lot of speculation that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were absent from the celebrations. The Congress is currently seeking a permanent president and questions are being raised in the Congress over the top leadership. The absence of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi has heated up politics.

Other leaders who were present at the Congress headquarters in Delhi on the occasion of Sruthapa Day included Priyanka Gandhi, A.K. Antony, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma etc. However, Sonia Gandhi is currently away from many programs and she was not present even on the day of the inauguration. When Rahul Gandhi left for Italy in the afternoon to attend a program.

Sonia Gandhi did not attend the meeting held at the party headquarters on the occasion of the founding day of the Congress but she released a video and conveyed the message to the party workers and leaders.

He said in a video message that it was time for the party workers, thus the citizens, to unite to fight the dictatorial forces. He also wished the party leaders, activists and supporters a happy 135th anniversary of the Congress.

He further said that the Congress was formed as a part of the people's movement, the freedom struggle of the country was fought by the Congress, even today the situation is the same as it was before India became independent. The power of the country is in the hands of the dictatorial forces, in which everyone needs to unite and fight against these forces.

After the Sruthapa Day celebrations, Priyanka Gandhi, while talking to reporters, lashed out at the central government over the issue of agricultural law. He said that the Annadata farmers were running a movement which the government was calling political and insulting the farmers, which was a kind of sin and the BJP and the central government would have to bear the consequences.

Calling the farmers' movement a political conspiracy is an insult to the agitating farmers, the government should listen to them and withdraw the laws immediately. The Congress was formed in 1885, with 60 presidents over the last 135 years. The first convention of the party was scheduled for 25th December 1885 in Poona which was later held on 28th December at Gokuldas Tejpal Sanskrit College, Bombay.

The first session was attended by 72 members and was chaired by Sruthan Vyomeshchandra Banerjee. Dadabhai Navroji was the president from 1886 to 1893, after which he was the president of many dignitaries and the Congress who contributed to the liberation of the country.

On the other hand, on the occasion of the 136th founding day of the Congress, former Congress leader Sanjay Zai scoffed at the absence of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, saying that the Congress could suffer a lot due to this absence. Rahul Gandhi, on the other hand, left for Italy.
