A middle class person can buy a house with great difficulty in life. So it is important that you prepare well in advance.

PMAY scheme

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the government aims to provide housing to all by 2022. You can also avail the benefits of this scheme if you come under the terms of this scheme. Loan interest will be waived in three categories under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS).

1. EWS means economically weaker class: whose annual income is less than Rs 3 lakh.

2. LIG i.e. Low Income Group: Whose annual income is between Rs. 3 lakhs to 6 lakhs.

3. MIG i.e. Middle Income Group: MIG 1 annual income is between 5 lakh to 12 lakh and MIG 2 annual income is between 12 lakh to 18 lakh.

This benefit to the spouses

You can avail this scheme if you are married. One of the spouses can apply for this scheme or both can apply jointly. Husband and wife cannot apply for the benefit of this scheme separately.

If both the spouses are earning then both of them will get the benefit of the scheme as per the category by earning income. Spouses will be treated as a single unit. Under this scheme, any individual can avail subsidy up to Rs 2.67 lakh. If the husband and wife take a loan together, the burden of EMI will be less and they will get more benefits.
