DRDO to provide army with 200 Howitzer cannons to be deployed in Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh

- The decision taken in the wake of the conflict with China

New Delhi Dated 19th December 2020 Saturday

The Defense Research and Development Authority (DRDO) will provide buses to Howitzer cannons to the Indian Army. Tensions with China over the past few months have led to speculation that the artillery will be aimed at Arunachal Pradesh and Ladakh.

Currently, the Indian Army needs 400 artillery guns as fast as possible, so in the next 18 months, DRDO will provide a home-built advanced tower artillery gun, the Howitzer. The cannon can pierce targets up to 48 kilometers away. Speaking of parameters, this gun can automatically (automatic) go up to twenty five kilometers per hour.

The Bofors have a capacity of 39 caliber rounds while the Howitzer has a capacity of 52 caliber rounds. The trial is currently underway at the Chandipur firing range in Balapur, Orissa. The shooter starts the countdown by fitting the camera on a tall tower in the firing range and closing his ear ear muff. As soon as it reaches zero, 55 kg of ammunition from the cannon hits its target. Its magnitude is so great that the surrounding earth trembles like an earthquake. This cannon is made entirely of indigenous equipment. It will be organized in Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. In these two places, China was manipulating.
