United Nations, Ta. Sunday, December 6, 2020

Amidst the Corona epidemic, poverty has risen in the world's poorest and developing countries and its impact is being felt in India as well. According to an estimate released by the United Nations, the number of poor people worldwide will increase to one billion by 2030 due to the Corona epidemic.

Corona will increase the number of poor people in the world by 20.70 crore. As a result, the total number of poor will increase to over one billion. New research released by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) focuses on the Corona epidemic and its impact on the poor.

Research has revealed that the lockdown was announced due to the Corona epidemic, while many people became infected due to the virus. Due to all these circumstances, the GDP of many countries has also declined. Between these conditions, more than a billion people will fall into abject poverty by 2030. 20.70 crore poor will be added to the existing poor.

The research was conducted taking into account both the current mortality rate and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and current mortality rate, as part of a partnership between the UNDP and the University of Denver's Perdy Center for International Futures.

The current economic losses to the people will not be short-lived but will have an impact for the next 10 years. However, the UN report also claims that more attention has been paid to social protective, welfare programs, governance, digitization, green economy, etc. in the aftermath of the global Corona epidemic.

Which can also be used to reduce poverty to a certain level. Despite all these efforts, however, the Corona epidemic will have a devastating effect on the poor, and by 2030, the number of people living in abject poverty will exceed one billion.
