Consider giving leave to doctors deployed in Corona's duty: Supreme

New delhi date. Tuesday, December 15, 2020

The apex court today asked the Center to consider giving leave to doctors who are constantly on duty due to the Koro epidemic. The Supreme Court said that constant work could affect the mental health of doctors.

A bench comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice RS Reddy and Justice MR Shah asked the Center to consider giving leave to doctors during the hearing of a case involving proper treatment of corona patients and proper preservation of corpses in hospitals.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta was present on behalf of the Central Government during the hearing of the case. The apex court had asked Tushar Mehta to consider giving leave to doctors. Mehta had assured the apex court that the government would consider the suggestion of giving some time break to doctors on duty in Corona.

The bench told Mehta that no break has been given to the doctors in the last seven to eight months and they are working continuously. Now consider giving them a few days off. The court further held that continuous work is difficult and has an impact on mental health.
