Eight out of ten countries, including Pakistan and China, do not have religious freedom, according to a US report. The US Commission on Religious Freedom released the names of such countries. The United States has said it is concerned about the continued harassment of religious minorities in those countries.

The eight countries named by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in the report were Pakistan, China, Iran, Eritrea, Nigeria, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. However, with the release of the report, Pakistan vehemently opposed it, saying it was biased. Why isn't India named in this? Even in India, there are frequent reports of minorities living under constant threat.

The U.S. State Department said in a statement that Comoros, Cuba, Nicaragua and Russia had frequent violations of religious freedom. The report also said that the United States has identified Al Qaeda, Jaish-e-Muhabbat, Al Shabaab, Boko Haram, Hayat-e-Tahrir al-Sham, ISIS and other organizations as fanatical religious organizations and poses a threat to humankind. He also expressed the view that the United States is constantly concerned about such terrorist organizations.
