CEO to leave job for wife's career, lose Rs 730 crore bonus

German, Dt. 11. December 2020, Friday

There is a saying that behind every successful man is a woman's hand but sometimes this saying is also applied in reverse.

Rubin Ritter, co-CEO of the German online fashion store Jalando, has announced his retirement in the new year for his wife's career. He has also decided to forfeit a bonus of Rs 750 crore. I will take care of the children so that the wife can get help and time to advance her career.

"My wife and I have made this decision together and it is my priority to accelerate my wife's career," Ritter said.

However, some critics consider Ritter's claim to be a publicity stunt for the company, as most of the company's customers are women but the board has five male members. The company had to endure a lot of criticism for this. That said, by 2023, 40 percent of the board members will be women.

There is a gender gap not only in Jalando but also in the big companies in Germany.
