A campaign to withdraw the award in support of farmers protesting against the central government's agricultural law has begun and now the latest name to join is boxer Vijender Singh.

Vijender Singh, an Olympic medalist for India, has announced that if the government does not withdraw the law, I will return my Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. Vijender Singh has reached the Delhi-Haryana border to support the farmers' movement.

Vijender Singh also contested the last Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket. He said, "If the government does not withdraw this black law, I will return my award."

Vijender Singh was awarded the Khel Ratna award in 2009. He had earlier won a bronze medal for India at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. He also won a bronze medal at the 2009 World Championship and the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

It may be mentioned that the farmers have been agitating for 11 days. On the other hand, the negotiations with the government have not yielded any result yet.
