Bomb blast in Kabul, Afghanistan: 9 killed, more than 20 injured

A bomb blast near the Afghan capital, Kabul, has killed at least nine people and injured more than 20 others. Afghanistan's Interior Minister Masood Andarabi has confirmed the blast. He said the blast in Kabul had killed nine people and injured 20 others.

Afghan security forces have cordoned off the area of ​​Kabul where the blast took place. Earlier in the day, three people, including a deputy provincial governor, were killed in a bomb blast and firing in Kabul on Tuesday. The attack is being seen as a new link in the chain of violence in Afghanistan. The blast comes as talks between the Taliban and Afghan government negotiators continue and efforts to reach a peace deal continue.

Kabul was hit by a rocket on December 12. One civilian was killed and another was injured. According to the Afghan Interior Ministry, two shells were fired at the premises of Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul. A bomb had exploded at an Iraqi police recruiting center at Kisak, west of Kabul.

It is noteworthy that the organization affiliated with the Islamic State of Afghanistan has carried out such attacks before. More than two dozen mortars were fired last month. More than half a dozen civilians were killed and more than 30 were injured.
