Arunachal, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram usurp our land: Assam claims

Even though Prime Minister Modi has claimed that China has not usurped our land, the reality is that not only China but also the states of our country have now become active in pushing the land of other states.

The Assam government itself had informed the state assembly that there were 56 incidents of land encroachment by Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland.

Replying to a question by Debabrata Saikia, Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandra Mohan Patwari said that since January 1, 2020, there have been 56 incidents of land grabbing by neighboring states. Responding on behalf of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Patwari said there had been 17 fights between the people of Assam and Mizoram over land alone.

One person was killed in a violent stampede in Kachar. The highest number of land grabbing cases after Kachar was in West Karbi Anglon and Kamrup. There were seven land grabs, the minister replied.

The place where most of the land in Assam was confiscated was Lakhimpur where six cases took place. Since then, five cases have been registered in Dhemji and Karbi, four in Jorhat, two in Karimganj, one each in Sadia, Tinsukia and Shivsagar, the minister said. He said.
