America's gesture to India, if we buy weapons from Russia, we will impose sanctions like Turkey

Washington, Ta. 19. Saturday, December, 2020

India is buying large arms from the US, while India has struck a deal with Russia for an S-400 missile defense system.

The United States has imposed sanctions on Turkey after a similar deal was struck, and has indicated that the United States could impose similar sanctions on India if it continues to buy arms from Russia.

"We want to warn our allies in the future against buying large arms from Russia," said Clark Cooper, the deputy secretary of state for military affairs.

The United States announced sanctions on Turkey this week. The United States has been torn apart by Turkey's purchase of the S-400 missile defense system from Russia. Sanctions may apply under the Sanctions Act.

"Every step taken by India is very important to the United States and that is why I have said this. Russia will have to pay a heavy price because of American law. Because Russia is involved in very bad cyber activities. What Russia is doing in other countries of the world," Cooper said. That is not acceptable.

He clarified that under US sanctions law, no country is barred from purchasing spare parts for the maintenance of weapons previously purchased from Russia unless it finds an alternative. The US should immediately ban a country that buys weapons from Russia. Not required. This law can be applied to any country in the world and it has no time limit.
