5000 AIIMS nurses strike illegal, return to work: HC

New delhi date. Tuesday, December 15, 2020

About 5,000 nurses from Delhi's AIIMS went on strike indefinitely. As a result, patients undergoing treatment at AIIMS are facing severe hardships.

On the other hand, in view of the petition filed in the Delhi High Court, the High Court has immediately stayed the strike and ordered all the nurses to return to work.

The main demands of the striking nurses are salary hikes as well as other costing issues. On Monday all of a sudden all the nurses at Aims went on strike and stayed away from work.

Many patients have been shocked by such strikes amid the Corona epidemic. The director of AIIMS claimed that the demands of the nurses were being considered and meetings were also held to accept each of the demands but it was unfortunate that the strike was called off.

The AIIMS, on the other hand, had to immediately bring in 200 nurses from other hospitals due to a shortage of nurses. Ames has told nurses that if they do not show up for work immediately and do not prove their presence on the duty roster, they will be considered absent and further action will be taken.

Violation of the Disaster Management Act 2005 can result in action if the order is not complied with. Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court has also declared the strike by AIIMS nurses illegal. Judge Naveen Chawla declared the strike illegal in view of the AIIMS petition and ordered the nurses to return to work.
