The United States dumps 1 million tons of plastic into the sea every year, a shocking report published in the journal Science Advances

The United States alone dumps 1 million tons of plastic into the ocean each year. (Simply put, a ton is a thousand kilograms.) The United States generates more than 463 million tons of plastic waste annually. In other words, every American citizen throws 1300 plastic bags into the sea every year.

America produces the most plastic waste in the world. About 2.7 per cent to 5.3 per cent of this waste is not disposed of properly. The figures came in a report published in the journal Science Advance Journal.

However, the US has been blaming other countries, including India, for the environment. Science Advance Magazine indirectly warned America to stop dumping plastic waste into the sea in your own interest.
