The NDA's advance, despite many obstacles, took the lead in all but one of the states

- At half past twelve in the afternoon, there was a lead in all the seats in Gujarat

The NDA was leading in 122 out of 243 seats at 12.30 pm as the Bihar Assembly elections in North India once again cast a pall over the NDA. Voters did not believe RJD's Tejaswi Yadav's promise to provide jobs to one million youth.

When the counting began this morning, it seemed at one point that the grand coalition would win the election. But as the day progressed, the NDA's lead continued to grow, and at 12.30 pm, the NDA's majority was close to 122.

On the other hand, in the recent past, and to be precise, by-elections were held on November 3 and 7 in ten smaller states of the country. Considering the results, it can be said that the BJP retained its seats even in the midst of obstacles like inflation, rising prices of essentials, etc. The BJP had a lead of six out of seven in Uttar Pradesh, eight in Gujarat, two in Jharkhand, two in Karnataka, 20 out of 28 in Madhya Pradesh and one in Telangana.

In Orissa alone, Patnaik's party got the lead in one seat. The BJP's account was not opened there. Thus the NDA retained power even in the midst of one or the other setback. Voters had expressed confidence in Yogi Adityanath's BJP government despite the malaise in Uttar Pradesh.

The same can be said for Madhya Pradesh to some extent. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP had more results than the Congress. Despite having strong leaders like Kamal Nath, Digvijay Singh etc. in the Congress, the Congress party could not perform as expected.

Twenty-two leaders like Shashi Tharoor, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Kapil Sibal had recently written a letter to Sonia Gandhi urging her to unite the party. But the party's Mowdi Mandal does not seem to have learned a lesson from it, given the results of the Madhya Pradesh by-elections.
