Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced the renaming of the Ministry of Shipping. From now on, this shipping ministry will be known as the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Modi during the inauguration of the Ghogha-Hazira Row-Pax ferry.

He said that work is being done to make India a fully self-reliant and important part of India. A bigger step has been taken to bolster the government's efforts. The scope of the ministry has been expanded. In many places in developed economies, the Ministry of Shipping is in charge of ports and waterways. In India too the Shipping Ministry sees a lot of work connected with ports and waterways, so the clarity in the name will also bring clarity in the work.


Inauguration of Ghogha-Hazara Row-Pax service

On the launch of Ghogha-Hazira Ro-Pax service, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the launch of Ro-Pax service between Ghogha and Hazira today will fulfill the years old dream of the people in both Saurashtra and South Gujarat. With this service, the distance of 375 km of road between Ghogha and Hazira will be reduced to only 90 km by sea. The 10 to 12 hour journey will now only take 3-4 hours.

He said that now the products of pastoralists and farmers would reach the market faster, more safely by sea. In this way, transportation routes will also be easier for business associates in Surat. The Prime Minister said that even in India, the Shipping Ministry sees a lot of work connected with ports and waterways. So name clarification, will also bring clarity in the work.
