-More young people can now be recruited

New Delhi Dated 20th November 2020 Friday

The Indian Army changed some of the criteria of physical fitness to allow more young people to join the army. Now young people who want to join the army will get a lot of relief.

Eligibility will be determined by considering the height and weight of the youth who want to join as a soldier. This rule was earlier for officer level recruitment. This rule will now also apply to the recruitment of soldiers. Until now the rule for soldier recruitment was that the minimum weight should be fifty kg and the maximum 62 kg. Weight and height ratios will now be assessed separately.

However with the weight corresponding to the height it was decided that it would be mandatory for the youngsters who wanted to be recruited to maintain fitness. So far the height and weight measurements were different depending on the weather and habitation of different states. There were also attempts to bring uniforms.

The Independent Recruitment Board of the Indian Army had even started recruitment for the Delhi pilot project. All major recruitment centers in the country were informed of the change from the headquarters.
