The marble statues of Lokladila leaders or the marble statues of election symbols (Mayawati fame) have come as no surprise. But in Turkmenistan, the president reportedly placed a 50-foot-tall, 24-carat gold-plated statue of his pet dog on a city street.

Currently in Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov loves his pet dog very much. Most people love their pet dog like a child so this is nothing new. What is new is that Gurbanguly made a fifty feet high statue of his pet dog and plated it on the streets of the country's capital Ashgabat with a 24 carat gold plated statue.

Gurbanguly, who has been in power in Turkmenistan since 2007, unveiled the statue on Wednesday, November 11 and formally announced its unveiling.

Gurbanguli has a dog of Albi breed. The fifty-foot-tall bronze statue, made by a special process, was plated with 24 carat gold to create the look of genuine gold. The statue was erected on the road to Ashgabat, the country's capital.
