Many cities, including Ahmedabad, will not have drinking water by 2050

-The shocking prediction made by the World Wildlife Fund

-Ahmedabad among the most dangerous cities

New Delhi Dated 5th November 2020 Thursday

The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has revealed that in just 30 years, at least 30 cities, such as Mumbai, the capital, New Delhi, Jaipur, Kanpur, Indore, Lucknow and Chandigarh, will face a severe shortage of drinking water.

According to the World Wildlife Fund's (WWF) Risk Filter Analysis, economically important cities will see an increase in population and a shortage of drinking water. On the one hand, the Union Ministry of Water Energy has launched an ambitious plan to provide tap water at home, while on the other hand, the WWF has made this prediction.

There was a need to take immediate action to stop this situation and raise awareness on the issue of environmental protection. The other cities named in the WWF report are Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Pune, Srinagar, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Kozhikode, Visakhapatnam, Gwalior, Surat, Aligarh and Coonoor. The analysis divided these cities between one and five between 2030 and 2050.

Cities with more than three digits were considered sensitive and cities with more than four digits were considered highly sensitive. In five-figure cities, the shortage of drinking water is so widespread that it can lead to beatings and bloodshed. The most dangerous cities were Ahmedabad, Ludhiana and Chandigarh. Dr. Sejal Vora, WWF's India Program Director, said that immediate action should be taken in these cities from today onwards in terms of environment. Water resources will be abundant only if the environment is protected. Otherwise the time to come will be very harsh.
