Bengaluru, Ta. Tuesday, November 24, 2020

Google is all set to buy Indian social media app ShareChat. Google is set to pay 1.03 billion for the app. Of course, buy-sell negotiations are still ongoing. But the deal is likely to be finalized in the coming days. Launched in January 2015, ShareChat has over 160 million monthly active users.

This app has been developed by Mohalla Tech Pvt. Ltd. of India. The company was co-founded by Ankush Sachdeva, Bhanu Pratap Singh and Farid Ahesa. ShareChat allows you to share videos, jokes, songs and other content. Google wants to expand into Indian languages, so it's no surprise to invest in such an indigenous and successful application.

Preliminary agreements have also been reached between Google and ShareChat executives. Sharechat is available in 15 languages, including Gujarati. So it is also popular among the English speaking class. Sharechat operates from its Bengaluru-based headquarters and has about 400 employees. This app is available in both Playstore and App Store. Sharechat also launched a video app called Sharechat Moj after the ban on TikTalk.
