Reports were circulating that the state government of Tamil Nadu was deciding to reduce the syllabus taught in schools by fifty per cent. This was also likely to affect the schedule of examinations.

The state government had formed a committee of 18 academics to reduce the syllabus of SSC and HSE. The committee was currently considering the decision of the state government. If this committee gives the green signal then the decision will be implemented.

According to the latest report, the curriculum will be reduced by forty to fifty percent. The decision is expected to be formally announced by December 5. The state education minister claimed that the decision was taken in view of the annual examinations to be held in 2021. He said schools had been closed for a long time due to the corona infection. Under those circumstances, it was not possible to complete the entire year course.

The plan was to move forward by comparing the results of fifty per cent of the course based on the progress of the students in the previous years.
