Delhi's air quality index exceeds 450, pollution rises sharply

-Nothing is visible from five feet away at dawn

New Delhi 5th November 2020 Thursday

Pollution was found to be rampant in the capital New Delhi. In many places in Delhi and NCR, the Air Quality Index crossed the 450 mark. Early morning fog-like pollution is so intense that nothing is visible from four to five feet away.

A thick fog-like atmosphere was created this morning. However it was not fog but pollution. Especially in areas like Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, ITO, Rohini, Dwarka and Anand Vihar, visibility was zero. The air quality was also extremely poor. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality index in ITO was more than 460. There were 464 in Dwarka, 478 in Rohini, 464 in Ashok Vihar, 491 in Jahangir Puri, 468 in Anand Vihar and 447 at Indira Gandhi Airport. This was the most toxic air in terms of the environment. The index of 401 to 500 is considered the most toxic and was considered by experts to be dangerous to health.

This was not only in Delhi. The situation was similar in Noida and Gurugram. The air quality index in Sector One of Noida was 458, 473 in Sector 62 and 440 in Sector 116. Gurugram was 469 in Sector 51.
