Criticism of Gupkar on the one hand, collaboration on the other

-BJP enjoys power with National Conference in Kargil

-Allegation that the Gupkar gang was receiving money from foreign organizations

New Delhi 19th November 2020 Thursday

The central government was alleging that the Jammu and Kashmir People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (Gupkar gang for short) was carrying out anti-national activities by obtaining money from foreign powers and institutions.

The BJP, the main constituent party of the central government, on the other hand, was sharing power with the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Farooq Abdullah's National Conference party in Kargil. Thus the BJP was adopting a double standard. If the Gupkar gang is carrying out anti-national activities, then why is the BJP in power in Kargil?

Dr. Farooq Abdullah, chairman of the National Conference, is also the head of the Gupkar gang. The highest number of 26 members elected in Kargil is 10 from the National Conference, eight from the Congress and three from the BJP. Four members are nominated. Thus, the BJP government sitting in Delhi on the one hand considers the Gupkar gang as a gang involved in anti-national activities and on the other hand the BJP members are in power in Kargil with the National Conference and the Congress.

The chairman-cum-chief executive of the Hill Council is Feroz Khan of the National Conference. Four other executive councilors include BJP's Muhammad Ali Chandan. The National Conference and the BJP jointly contested the Hill Council elections in 2018.
