- BJP won in 242 wards

Jaipur dated 4th November 2020 Wednesday

In the municipal corporation elections held in three major cities of Rajasthan, the Congress, led by Ashok Gehlot, defeated the BJP. Out of 560 wards in Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota, Congress won 261 and BJP 242 wards. In 57 wards, the independents won in a way that shocked everyone. Thus Congress won in three of the six corporations. Two corporations were held by the BJP and one was dominated by independents.

A year ago, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot struck a master stroke of two corporation-two mayors which was successful. The Vent Congress government, which came to power on October 14 last year, transferred three corporations to six. A total of 221 wards of the three cities were converted into 560 wards. However there were heavy protests and yes at the time. But Gehlot didn't listen to anyone.

Now Gehlot's move was a victory for the Congress. In six municipal corporations, the Congress won in the Jaipur Heritage ward while the BJP got a clear majority in the Jaipur Greater. Jodhpur was led by the BJP in the north and the Congress in the south. In Kota, the Congress was leading in the north while in the south, the Congress and the BJP won similar seats. Independents dominated here.
