BJP committed to crack down on Owaisi's stronghold: Yogi, Smriti, Nadda and Shah in Hyderabad

- Why all this fuss in Hyderabad municipal elections

Hyderabad / New Delhi 30th November 2020 Monday

The BJP seemed to be committed to tearing down the stronghold of Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who was slammed by the central government.

The Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections are currently underway. Top leaders like Union Home Minister Amit Shah, other ministers Smriti Irani, BJP president JP Nadda and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had visited Hyderabad on the occasion.

Sunday was the last day of the election campaign. Elections were to begin on December 1. The BJP had painted a municipal corporation election as a Lok Sabha election. The veteran leaders of the party landed here. However, the BJP knows full well that it is not easy to tear down the strongholds of TRP and Owaisi.

In the 2016 GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) elections held here, the BJP won five seats, compared to 99 for the TRP and 44 for the Owaisi. Maybe Atlej this time the BJP fielded top leaders here. Credible sources said that the BJP is aware of the fact that it is not easy to get a majority here.
