Ambala-Patiala border clash, farmers reject barricades, police baton charge

- Rapid Action Force had to be called

New Delhi Dated 26th November 2020 Thursday

The barricades erected by the police on the Ambala-Patiala border to stop the farmers from moving forward were rejected by the farmers, creating tension and the police used batons to disperse the agitated farmers.

However, the farmers did not disperse and the Rapid Action Force had to be called in. The farmers had forcibly entered Haryana. From this morning, farmers were to strike in the capital New Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh.

The police had sealed the boundaries of the respective areas but the number of farmers was more than the number of police. Initially the police acted lightly but as the farmers began to dismantle the barricades the police whimpered and first charged with batons. However, the administration had to seek the help of the Rapid Action Force as it failed to control the farmers. The atmosphere was tense.
