Corona is undoubtedly a deadly disease, but aggressive nationalism or religious bigotry is an even more dangerous disease, a controversial statement made by former Vice President Hamid Ansari.

Speaking on the occasion of the digital launch of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's book Battle of Belonging, he said, without naming the BJP or the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, that aggressive nationalism and religious bigotry were more deadly than corona.

Hamid Ansari had earlier made controversial statements. As Muslims in India feel insecure, it is not true that Vande Mataram Bole is the same patriot, etc. The statements created a good controversy.

He said that Covid 19 is indeed a terrible leprosy but our country has already fallen victim to diseases like aggressive nationalism and religious bigotry. The disease is more dangerous.

His statement drew strong criticism on social media. "It is enough that I am Indian," Hamid said on the last day of his vice presidency. I don't need to prove my Indianness by singing Vande Mataram. Muslims in this country constantly feel insecure. These statements of his also created controversy.
