The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh is gearing up to curb love jihad. He made the announcement while addressing a rally in Deoria on Saturday.
Citing the Allahabad High Court judgment, he said conversion was not allowed for marriage. We will legislate to curb love jihad. I warn those people if hiding the identity is playing a game with our Ben daughters Ijjat. If you do not improve, your Ram Naam Satya Yatra will start.
On Friday, the Allahabad High Court ruled that conversion to marriage alone was invalid. The court rejected the application of the couple from different religions. One of the applicants is a Muslim while the other is a Hindu. The girl converted to Hinduism on June 29, 2020 and got married on July 31, one month later. The court said in its judgment that it was clear from the record that the applicant had only converted for marriage.
#WATCH Allahabad HC said religious conversion is not necessary for marriage. Govt will also work to curb 'Love-Jihad', we'll make a law. I warn those who conceal identity & play with our sisters' respect, if you don't mend your ways your 'Ram naam satya' journey will begin: UP CM pic.twitter.com/7Ddhz15inS
