BJP leader Ranjit Bahadur Srivastava, who is the husband of the BJP municipal chairman of Barabanki and is being prosecuted in a case of misconduct, said, "Why are the raped girls found on the farm?"

The leader issued a statement acquitting the accused in the Hathras case and calling the gangrape victim a suspect. He alleged that the young man with whom he was in love had gone to the farm under the pretext of taking fodder to meet the young man. Why didn't he think of going somewhere else? Why are such young women not found in wheat or grain fields?

The man, in his wisdom, vowed that the accused youths should be released from jail till the CBI issues a chargesheet. These young men can be proven innocent if what I am saying is considered in a neutral way.

However, the National Women's Commission strongly protested against Srivastava's statement and its chairperson Rekha Sharma wrote on Twitter that the man did not deserve to be called the leader of any political party. The Punch will send a notice to him. His mentality is distorted.
