Uttar Pradesh: Bearded without permission, police officer suspended

Lucknow, Ta. Thursday, October 22, 2020

An UP police officer who had a beard without permission has been suspended from his job.

Insar Ali, an officer on duty in Baghpat district, had grown his beard. As per the rules of the police department, a person of any religion has to get permission from his superiors before growing a beard. Insar Ali was growing his beard without any such permission. The then SP also warned him and Asked to shave three times. However, the police officer did not heed the warning.

Incumbent SP Abhishek Singh said that Insar Ali has now been suspended for non-compliance even after repeated orders. Anyone in the police department has to seek the permission of the police department before growing a beard but Insar Ali was not following the rules of the police department.

Suspended Insar Ali, on the other hand, says that an application has been filed in the IG's office seeking permission to grow a beard. However, my request has not been heard so far.
