The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has sent a notification to the US Congress informing it that spare parts for the Super Hercules aircraft worth Rs 2.50 billion would be sold to India. The US had approved the order of spare parts from India.
India bought the Super Hercules C-130J type cargo transport aircraft from the US in 2014. India is the seventh country to purchase this model of cargo aircraft from the US. India then ordered the necessary spare parts. The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency has approved India's order.
The US will supply Hercules aircraft to India at a cost of ૯ 3 billion, or about Rs 2.50 billion. This includes logistical support, various necessary devices and small and large spare parts. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified the US Congress of the approval. It said the United States would provide all necessary defense assistance to strengthen India-US defense relations and take diplomatic relations between the two countries to new heights. As part of this, India's order for Hercules Cargo spare parts has been approved.
Deals approved by the agency are reviewed by the US Congress within 90 days. If there is any change in the review, the deal is renewed, otherwise the deal is considered approved.
