The US space agency NASA has launched the Cygnus spacecraft named after Kalpana Chawla, the first female astronaut of Indian descent. Northrop Gruman's spacecraft is a cargo spacecraft that will deliver the necessary supplies to the space station operating in space.

Earlier, the launch of SS Kalpana Chawla was averted twice. On Friday, two minutes and 40 seconds before the launch, it could not be launched due to a fault in its ground support equipment. Earlier, it could not be launched on September 29 due to inclement weather.

Northrop Grumman decided to name the satellite Kalpana Chawla in September. The company announced that we are proud to name our next NG Fortin Cygnus spacecraft after Kalpana Chawla. The spacecraft was being launched by Northrop Grumman's Antares rocket.

The idea was launched from the NASA space station in Virginia. The mission was named NG Fortin. The spacecraft will reach the International Space Station in two days. This is a re-supply ship. It will carry 3,629 kg of cargo to the International Space Station.
