The decline in crime in Uttar Pradesh does not go unnoticed. A man was shot dead in the presence of police and a district magistrate in Ballia on Thursday afternoon. The deceased's brother openly alleged that the police were helping the killer.

The man who was shot dead is a close relative of Dhirendra Pratap Singh, a BJP MLA. The family of the deceased alleged that while Dhirendra Pratap Singh and his accomplices were throwing stones and firing, the police were moving us away with sticks instead of stopping them. Dhirendra was able to escape with the help of police.

A meeting was underway in the presence of magistrates, government officials and senior police officials. The meeting was held to resolve the ongoing Khatrag dispute over ownership of a shop.

Dhirendra Singh Pratap goes for breakfast. He is related to Surendra Singh, a controversial BJP MLA from Beria. Jaiprakash alias Gama Pal, 46, of Durjanpur village, was critically injured in the shooting and died during treatment. Khatrag was running in the case of the quota shop.
