The Modi government will provide Rs 5,000 per year to farmers to buy fertilizer

The Modi government is threatening to give one more piece of good news to millions of farmers in the country.

At present, farmers are given assistance of Rs 6,000 per annum under the Prime Minister's Honors Fund Scheme. Apart from this, the central government is preparing to provide another Rs 5,000 to farmers. This amount will be given to them to buy fertilizer. Instead of giving subsidy, it wants to put this amount directly in the hands of farmers.

The Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices has made a recommendation to the Central Government for this. The Commission wants farmers to be given Rs. 2500 twice a year so that they can buy fertilizer before the start of the two farming seasons. If taken, farmers will have more cash available because the subsidy amount will come directly to their account.

Fertilizer companies are currently subsidized and there is widespread corruption in the system. Cooperative societies and corrupt officials create a shortage of fertilizer and farmers are eventually forced to buy fertilizer at exorbitant prices.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan, CM of the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, has also recently appealed to the Modi government to give money directly to farmers.
