The issue of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan, which led to the partition of India, has become a hot topic in the Bihar election campaign.

The Congress has given a ticket to former Aligarh Muslim University president Mashkur Ahmed Usmani for an assembly seat in Darbhanga district, which has angered the BJP. "We are people who believe in Gandhiji's ideology. There is no question of posting a picture of Jinnah or supporting him. There should be no question of Jinnah in India. I wrote a letter to PM Modi. I did not get any reply.

"Former Vice President Hamid Ali Ansari was coming to Aligarh and he was in danger of being attacked. We protested against it. We did not rally in support of Jinnah," Usmani told a channel.

Earlier, on giving tickets to Usmani, the BJP had said that the Congress party has never meant unity with the country. The Congress has given tickets to Jinnah's supporters who are working to divide the country.

Last year, there was a controversy over the posting of a picture of Jinnah at Aligarh Muslim University and Usmani was accused of backing Jinnah.
