That black day continued to afflict the soul

Mention of the incident of August 5, 2019

-As soon as he was released from jail, Mehbooba Mufti poisoned him

Srinagar dated 14th October 2020 Wednesday

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, while coming out of jail, said that the black step taken on August 5, 2019 was constantly tormenting my soul during detention.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was released two days before her trial in the Supreme Court. Mehbooba, along with other Kashmiri leaders, was arrested and detained at the same time as the Central Government repealed Article 370, which gives special status to Jammu and Kashmir. As soon as he was released on Tuesday night, he said he would continue his struggle to re-establish Article 370.

He claimed that the same feeling that was going through my mind during the detention would be shared by all the citizens of the state. None of us will ever forget that black day. Our freedom was taken away. We have to fight against the illegal action taken by the Delhi government. My demand is that those like me who are still in jail should be released immediately.

Mehbooba's detention was extended for another three months on July 31 this year. Mehbooba, 60, has been in custody for the past 14-15 months. His detention was challenged in the Supreme Court. The hearing was scheduled for two days later. He had earlier been released.
