He joined the Kerala government in 2000 as a government employee.

He was also accused of traveling abroad without permission. Before joining the government service, he worked as a teacher. For some time now, the Popular Front of India has been accused of conspiring with foreign money to cause chaos and violent riots in the country. According to a report, the organization is a minority organization like CMI and engages in anti-national activities under the guise of a popular front. Abdul Salam is the chairman of this PFI. The PFI had hatched a conspiracy to stage racist riots in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh police arrested PFI chairman Abdul Salam along with three other PFI youths.
