Locket Chatterjee, a BJP MP from West Bengal, said the accused in Hathras should be shot in public. This will set an example and make you think more about gangrape in the future.

Locket Chatterjee is a BJP MP from Hooghly constituency. He said this is not an issue to do politics. At a time when such incidents were on the rise, it was necessary to set an example to the people of Hathras by setting a precedent by punishing them by firing in public.

He said that the beast was putting me down. Prosecuting such criminals is not a waste of public time and resources. Instead, the accused should be shot dead in public to intimidate others. Such accused need not be treated lightly, Lockett added.

Lockett was actually addressing a rally on agricultural laws. He was speaking to media after the rally.
