New Delhi Dated 31st October 2020 Saturday

Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi visited the tomb of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi at her grandmother's residence this morning and laid a wreath. Today is Indira Gandhi's death anniversary.

The then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards on October 31, 1984 at 9 am. Indiraji sent Indian troops to the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the highest Sikh pilgrimage site, to rescue or kill Saint Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was hiding with weapons in the Golden Temple. So the Sikhs around the world were offended.

Indiraji was advised by her advisers that you should not have Sikh bodyguards. But Indira Gandhi did not follow that advice. In the end, he was shot dead by Sikh bodyguards. Today being her death anniversary, Priyanka Gandhi went to Shakti Sthal to pay floral tributes to her grandmother.
