Dalit girl raped in Fatehpur: Crime scene to be recreated in Hathras, 60 police deployed for family security

The Hathras incident in Uttar Pradesh is being discussed across the country. Citing the case of suspected rape and murder, the Jharkhand High Court had struck down the police in another case. The Jharkhand High Court had said that places like Hathras are not only in Uttar Pradesh but also in Jharkhand. The Jharkhand case was linked to rape and murder.

The Jharkhand High Court also directed DGP M V Rao to set up a SIT for immediate investigation. According to the FIR lodged on March 30, the accused sprayed kerosene on the victim and set her on fire in the Girdih area here. The family tried to apprehend the accused but others came to his rescue and so he fled the scene.

The petition filed by the victim's father in the High Court was heard by Judge Ananda Sen. While the hearing was going on, the PM's report said that the victim was 100 per cent burnt. The investigation into this whole incident has been very lenient.

With this heinous crime we are compelled to say that places like Hathras are not only in Uttar Pradesh but also here in Jharkhand. The victim's swab was sent to the lab for testing on May 20 when the incident happened in March. What did the police do all these days? The whole matter has prompted the formation of an immediate SIT.

Rape is still rampant in Uttar Pradesh, where a 20-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly raped in Fatehpur. According to the complaint, the girl was gang-raped by two persons from the same village on Thursday night.

Guddu Yadav, 24, and Yaman Yadav, 25, were arrested on the basis of the victim's complaint. The victim's medical report has not yet arrived. Meanwhile, the SIT is investigating the Hathras scandal here and the crime scene where the incident took place will be recreated. The victim's family will be taken to the spot.

“We are gathering every piece of evidence of the incident,” a senior official said. While CCTV cameras have been installed around for the protection of the victim's family and about 60 policemen have also been deployed.

DIG Sulabh Mathur has been sent from Lucknow as Hathras as Nodal Officer. A gazetted officer will also monitor the security of the victim's family, and a large number of women police have also been deployed. While each family of witnesses has been given two security guards. A team from the fire department and officials from the local intelligence unit will also be present.
