Political turmoil broke out once again in neighboring Pakistan. Police arrested Safdar Awan, son-in-law of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, on Monday morning. Nawaz's daughter Maryam alleged that the door of the hotel room where we landed in Karachi was closed.

Police broke down the door.

What actually happened was that on Sunday once again the opposition held a rally against Imran Khan's government in which thousands of people took to the streets. Apparently the government was frustrated. Nawaz Sharif's son-in-law Safdar Awan was arrested by police on Monday morning.

Nawaz Sharif is suffering from kidney disease and is currently undergoing treatment in London. A Pakistani court had issued an arrest warrant in his name. Nawaz Sharif replied with the opinion of the doctors that I am undergoing treatment and the doctors do not allow me to leave here at present.

Mary's speech at Sunday's rally was well received. Maryam called Imran Khan a coward and a worthless man. Imran also alleged that he was repeatedly swayed by the Pakistani army. In the last few days, all the opposition parties in Pakistan have come together and are agitating against the government of Imran Khan.
