NIA raids in several places in Jammu and Kashmir, also in Bengaluru over terror funding

The NIA raided dozens of places in Jammu and Kashmir and one place in Bengaluru to nab the nefarious activities of some NGOs providing money to terrorists.

Earlier, the NIA had raided nine places in Srinagar and one in Bandipora following reports of terror funding. A place was also raided in Bengaluru, Karnataka in South India. Some NGOs in Jammu and Kashmir were receiving funds from abroad and delivering them to terrorists. The NIA struck at the locations of such NGOs. It was claimed by the NIA that a reputed NGO was receiving money from abroad in the name of religion and social work and that money was being provided to terrorists as well as separatists.

The NIA was examining the documents of eighty such NGOs. Money was obtained from abroad under different names and for different purposes. The money was coming to India through the hawala channel.

According to a NIA source, the NGO was dangerously receiving money from outside and paying terrorists in the Kashmir Valley area as well as youths who wanted to become terrorists. Falah, the terrorist organization of Hafiz Syed, the mastermind of the 26/11 terror attacks, bought properties in posh areas in many Indian cities with the help of unscrupulous money received from humanity. The NIA was gathering evidence in such cases.
