The Indian Navy will get one more anti-submarine warship today. INS Kavarti is made entirely of indigenous equipment. This was the fourth warship of its kind. Earlier, three such warships were given to the Navy.

INS Kavarti will be dedicated to the nation today. The warship will be handed over to the Indian Navy at a special function at Visakhapatnam dockyard. This warship will be very important for the Navy. The ship was designed by naval engineers themselves. More than 90 per cent of the material is indigenous. The ship was built as part of a self-sufficient India.

The ship was built as part of Project 28. Project 28 began in 2003. Earlier, INS Kamrota, INS Kadmat and INS Kilton were handed over to the Navy. The latest weapons are fitted in INS Kavarti. Similarly, sensors have been installed to detect enemy submarines.
